At No. 1, nationwide is tied. 4 on our list of the Best Auto Insurance Providers for the Year 2023. In the majority of the categories that we looked at, the company’s average annual rates are in the middle of the pack. When asked if they are likely to renew their policies or recommend the company to others, policyholders give Nationwide high marks.

Cross country is No. 4 overall in our Best Car Insurance Companies of 2023 ranking, tied with Geico. The company’s rates are lower than the national average for nearly every category we examined, and the company’s average annual premium is in the middle of our ratings. One special case is its rate for drivers with a DUI on their records.

At No. 1, Nationwide is tied with three other businesses. 4 and tied for No. 1 in the Customer Service subcategory. 3 in the Probably going to be Suggested subcategory. The national ranking is also tied. 3 in the subcategory “Likely to Be Renewed.”

Nationwide’s customer service is rated No in this subcategory. 4, in a tie with Farmers, Travelers, and Geico. 64 percent of those who took part in the survey said that they were completely satisfied with the ease with which they could open a policy with Nationwide. In addition, 60% of those surveyed are completely satisfied with the service provided, and 56% of consumers surveyed stated that they are completely satisfied with the ease with which they can contact Nationwide’s customer service.

The national policy for handling claims is no. 3 in this subcategory, attached with State Homestead, Ranchers, and Geico. About 52% of people who took the survey said that it was easy to file a claim with Nationwide, and 47% said that they were completely satisfied with the status updates they got from Nationwide about their claim. About 51% of those polled said that the way their claim was handled made them completely satisfied.

Customer Loyalty at Nationwide Nationwide is tied for the No. 6 with Farmers, Travelers, and Allstate included in this subcategory. About 53% of survey participants who had made a claim say they are very likely to keep their Nationwide auto insurance policy. 41% of those polled indicated that they would be very likely to recommend Nationwide to others looking for auto insurance.

The average annual rate across the country is $1,473, which is lower than the national average rate of $1,547. Nationwide’s prices, on the other hand, are roughly in the middle of the pack in most categories when compared to those of other car insurance companies in our rating.

It does offer rates that are below average for some demographics in our analysis, including female senior drivers, and some of the lowest rates in our study for drivers with poor credit. Nationwide has some of the highest auto insurance rates for drivers with a DUI on their record.

Teen drivers attract some of the highest premiums from auto insurance providers. The average rate for insuring male teens is 4% higher than the national average, while the rate for female teens is 2% lower than the national average.

Compared to USAA, which typically offers the lowest rates, the company’s average annual rates for female and male teens are $1,828 and $2,613 higher, respectively. Nationwide’s rates for female teens are $3,221 lower and $2,934 lower than Farmers’, which has the highest rates in this category.

Policies for automobile insurance from USAA are only available to military personnel. State Farm or Geico might be options for those who aren’t eligible for USAA. The answer is no. 2 for female teen drivers, with a sample rate that is approximately 35% lower than the national average. Geico is the No. 2 for teenage boys, with a rate that is about 35% lower than the average.

For single 25-year-old drivers, nationwide car insurance rates are comparable to the national average: Females in this group are less than 2% lower than males, and males are less than 1% lower. The company’s annual average rates are more than $500 higher than USAA’s, which are the lowest for young adult drivers. For female young adult drivers, Geico’s rates are 23% lower than the national average and 27% cheaper than those of competitors. Our study found that Farmers has the highest rates among businesses for young adult drivers.

The national rates for married 35-year-old drivers are nearly 7 percent lower than the national average for female drivers and more than 5 percent lower than the national average for male drivers. For adult drivers, USAA has the lowest annual average rates, 36% lower than the national average for female and male drivers in this category.

Geico’s annual rates for female drivers are $270 lower than the national average and $246 lower than the national average for male drivers. Nationwide’s rates are about $700 lower than Allstate’s, which have the highest rates in this category.
